Amusement Park Caused Amputation, Alleges Lawsuit
In a deposition in a lawsuit stemming from an accident at Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, a 16-year old ride operator stated that she did not hear screams to stop the ride. The Associated Press reports that the accident, which occurred when a cable broke, caused the amputation of a teenager's feet. The operator claimed that she heard a loud snap as the ride climbed 177 feet to its peak, and that she tried to stop the ride at that point. However, she said that by the time the emergency stop button was pushed, the ride was on its fateful descent. The victim's feet were severed, though one was successfully reattached, according to the AP. The lawsuit alleges that the ride was improperly maintained and that the park didn't do enough to ensure the riders' safety.
