15 Years Later, Blame Still Disputed for 1993 Bombing
Fifteen years after the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, lawyers are wrangling over who is to blame, according to the New York Times. In the sixth appeal of the case, a panel of five judges is considering whether to toss out a verdict that concluded that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey was 68% responsible for the attack. That verdict concluded that the terrorists who carried out the attack were only 32% responsible. The apportionment of blame has financial implications. The New York Times reported that if the Port Authority is over 50% responsible, they are liable for a full 100% of damages for pain and suffering.
