Autism Settlement Won't Serve as Precedent, Claim Legal Observers
The Washington Post that an undisclosed settlement
from a federal vaccine injury compensation fund is being paid to the
family of young child who developed autism after receiving five
childhood vaccinations. Health officials from the Centers for Diseases
Control and Prevention still claim the vaccines are safe. However,
officials concede that in this case the shots worsened an underlying
disease involving the toddler's mitochodria, causing autism-like
symptoms. According to the Washington Post, legal observers believe the case is too narrow to serve as a precedent for other claims alleging that childhood vaccines cause autism.
