Supreme Court Won't Hear Wal-Mart Reimbursement Case

A Missouri woman who received a nearly half-million dollar settlement for a vehicle accident that left her critically brain injured must reimburse the money to Wal-Mart, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Supreme Court refused to hear her case, allowing a circuit court decision to stand. The woman's medical expenses of nearly $470,000 were paid by her company-sponsored health insurance, but a clause in the policy stipulated that the insurance required the repayment of medical reimbursements if a worker received money from a lawsuit. The woman received a $417,477 settlement from a trucking company whose driver was involved in the accident. According to the Post-Dispatch, she had worked at night for Wal-Mart stocking shelves.
