School District Sued in School Bus Traffic Mishap
According to the Albany Times-Union, a trial has begun in a lawsuit filed against a New York school district, alleging negligence in a 2005 traffic accident that injured a teenage girl. The lawsuit alleges that a school bus driver let students out at an unauthorized stop on a busy turnpike, instead of at the designated school bus stop on a side street. The girl was struck by a car as she attempted to cross the street. The Times-Union reports that two drivers involved in the collision have also been named as defendants. Court filings indicate that the girl suffered a head injury, fractures, contusions, and abrasions. Monetary damages were not specified.
